Why and how to run a free SEO audit of your website

Launching a website is an excellent start. Making sure it is visible in search engines is another matter. Technical errors invisible to the naked eye often explain a lack of traffic. To give you a clear picture quickly, we are launching our new 100% free SEO audit tool.
Whether you are an online retailer, a craftsman or an agency, here is why a quick technical check is a useful first step towards improving your organic visibility.
1. What is an SEO check for?
Many website owners face the same situation: the website is online, but it does not appear in the top results. Among the possible causes, there are often technical obstacles or optimisation gaps that you do not see when browsing, but that Google's crawlers do.
An SEO audit brings these points to light:
- Speed and responsiveness: a page that is slow to display or to respond drives visitors away, and speed is one of the signals Google takes into account.
- Mobile compatibility: is the viewport tag present so that the website displays correctly on a smartphone?
- Structure: are the main heading (H1), image alternative texts (alt attributes), and the length of the title and meta description optimised?
- Technical errors: no HTTPS, a server that responds too slowly, a page blocked by a noindex tag or indexing problems.
2. How does our free tool work?
We designed it to be simple: you do not need to be a developer or an SEO expert to use it.
- Enter your address: type the URL of the page you want to test (for example www.mywebsite.com).
- The analysis: in a few seconds, the tool checks the page's technical basics, then queries Google PageSpeed Insights to measure its performance on mobile and desktop.
- The results: they are displayed straight away on screen, with the points to fix. If you wish, you can also receive the full report by email to keep it or pass it on.
3. What does the report contain?
The report is not limited to an overall score: it reviews around fifteen concrete points and gives you a list of improvements. Here is what it checks.
- Technical foundations and indexing: redirection to HTTPS, robots.txt file, sitemap (XML), canonical URL and no noindex. The tool also measures the server response time: on good hosting, it is a matter of a few dozen milliseconds.
- Performance: page weight, HTML compression (gzip or Brotli), and PageSpeed Insights measurements: performance score out of 100, time to display the first content (Google considers it good under 1.8 s), the largest element (LCP), visual stability and JavaScript blocking time. A blocking time close to 0 ms is a very good sign; under real conditions, it is INP that measures the responsiveness your visitors actually feel.
- Semantics and accessibility: length of the title tag and meta description, to reduce the risk of them being truncated in the results, presence of an H1 heading and proportion of images described by an alt attribute.
- Social networks and AI: Open Graph tags to polish your shares, and structured data (JSON-LD / Schema.org), which helps traditional search engines and conversational assistants alike understand your content.
Conclusion
Take a few seconds to check the state of your website and identify what is holding back its visibility. Enter your page's address in our tool, view the results immediately and, if you wish, receive your full report by email.
